The Battler plot

Boxer Jim Fortune helps Angelica Hart when her husband Duncan attacks her in a Bowery café. Shortly thereafter, Jim fights Duncan, an amateur boxer, at a dinner party. Enraged by the sight of whips on Angelica's neck, Jim knocks Duncan out cold. In revenge, however, he attacks Angelica that night.
