When her parents' poverty forces Tess to work on the estate of her distant relatives, her arrival is immediately noticed by the arrogant Alec. He is quite brash and Tess tries to hold him off. She comes to take care of his old blind mother's birds and can't keep evading his cheeky charms. That is the beginning of a dramatic series of events in Tess's life.
