Sofies Verden plot

Sofie is an ordinary Norwegian girl. One day she receives a videotape with a certain Alberto Knox speaking directly to her from ancient Greece. They meet on several occasions, and throughout the film Alberto takes Sophie on a journey of discovery through the history of philosophy, from ancient Greece, over the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and beyond to the present day. Along the way, they begin to realize that they are just fiction of a writer's mind, and hatch a plan to escape to reality.
