The wealthy couple Annika (Lena Olin) and Klas (Stellan Skarsgård) are in a deep crisis because of the tragic loss of their son. They decide to buy a yacht and sail it to the Caribbean. They discover that the previous owners of the boat were a family of four, of which only mother and daughter are left due to a terrible accident.
