I was quite surprised by the acting of Mark Wahlberg. What did he put down that blood fanatic fan. And so nice to see that euphoria when he can become the new singer. The mallemolen he ends up in after that was very well put down. Although I can imagine it even more intense, so I think they have kept it pretty good. When I heard those stories from Led Zeppelin about what happened back stage, this has remained pretty good.

Wow has it been so long.

I personally think it's a good movie. Beautifully played, craftsmanship, really hard to get in the way.

Except that it's all a bit dull in terms of story. Not very startling - that is, given the subject and title, all the clichés are visible for miles in advance. That actually makes it a bit boring. And although the music itself is okay, that's not really a reason to try it again.

So I was a bit disappointed. In my memory I had a more positive image of this print.

“Dream big. Live the life.”

Reasonable. Actors like Wahlberg, Aniston and West try, but they can't hide the fact that Rock Star is a somewhat bloodless and uninspired film about a lead singer of a cover band, who suddenly becomes famous and has to deal with the dark sides of rock star life. This has been done before, and Rock Star brings little new under the sun in that regard. It sometimes looks more like a concert recording than a real movie about a band/lead singer, and the characters also remain one-dimensional.
