Private Nurse plot

When nurse Mary Malloy travels to New York to marry her childhood sweetheart, he doesn't show up. Then Mary desperately looks for a job. She goes to the Lexington Nurse's Register, but the manager, Miss Phillips, warns her that it could be several weeks before she can place her. But just as Mary is about to leave, she hears a call from Smitty, the butler of drunken playboy Henry Hoyt. A message is left for Miss Adams, one of the senior nurses, but Mary, convinced she can be there first, goes to Henry's apartment.
