Pismo do Amerika plot
"Life slides by like a shadow" sings Ivan. It is the first line of an old Bulgarian folk song that was believed to raise the dead. He always sang the song with his best friend Kamen, who is now in a coma in a hospital in America after an accident. Everything Ivan wants to say to his friend is contained in that song, but he only remembers the first line. When Ivan is refused a visa to America, he goes to the interior of Bulgaria in search of the full lyrics of the song. Meanwhile, he makes a travelogue for his friend with a video camera. In the mountainous countryside he comes into contact with Bulgarian traditions and ways of life that are in danger of disappearing rapidly due to globalization. He experiences and records with his camera the beauty of life that is often missed in the fast-paced modern world.
