Oma Maa plot
After World War II, young woman Anni goes against the wishes of her family (upper-middle-class bakers) by marrying Veikko, a young woodcutter and wounded war veteran. Together, the couple endure poverty, disease, the barren snow-covered land and Anni's equally chilly father, in a Finland deeply divided by war. As they struggle to build a home and a life for themselves in the Finnish wilderness, they discover the power of love, community and the resilience of the land itself, providing them with what they need most: hope.
