Set in 1970, the film jumps back and forth between two locations. The first is Osaka, Japan, where actress Sophie plays a role in a traditional Feydeau bedroom farce in the Canadian pavilion of the World's Fair. And secondly, Montreal in Quebec, Canada, where her boyfriend Michel has three friends who are involved in terrorist actions for the secession of Quebec. While Sophie finds herself involved in situations in Japan that seem to imitate Feydeau's farcical gossip, far from her Michel is sucked into a political radicalization that gets out of hand.
