Nikolaikirche plot
Astrid Protter-Bacher (Auer), the daughter of prominent police officer Albert Bacher (Naumann), the death of her father begins to question her life and that of her family. She joins the faithful of the Nikolaikirche, where the weekly prayer on Mondays has taken the form of a peace and protest movement. Astrid gets into a fight with her brother Alexander (Matthes) who is with the Stasi. Her sister Marianne (Haase), who receives friends from the West, arouses suspicion in the Stasi. Brother Alexander is ordered by his superiors to spy on his mother. Lies and deceit take over the situation, hope is replaced by fear and abuse of power is rife...
