Mestem chodí Mikulás plot

A twelve-year-old boy is left to his own devices and lives in the pediatric ward of a hospital in a small town. He rebels and gets into all kinds of mischief, much to the dismay of the stern head nurse. On the street he sees children playing for Sinterklaas. He promises a girl in the hall who is constantly crying that he will bring Sinterklaas to her bed. He borrows the Sinterklaas costume from the children on the street. While climbing back over the hospital gates, he injures himself so badly that emergency surgery is required. The sympathetic hospital staff now decides to play Sinterklaas themselves.
