"They spoke her name in whispers"

Dolly Payne is the daughter of some Washington residents who run a guest house. No fewer than two senior figures from the American government are competing for her hand, namely James Madison and Aaron Burr. The two manipulate each other, but in the end Dolly convinces them to become the First Lady of the country.
