Looks and Smiles plot

The film follows Mick (Green) who plans to become a mechanic, but fails to find a job in England in the early 1980s. He meets Karen (Nicholson), who at least still has a job as a shoe saleswoman. Then there's Alan (Pitts), a friend of Mick's. He joins the army and eventually ends up as a police officer in Northern Ireland.
