Liberty Kid plot

Two friends, Derrick and Tico, lost their jobs due to 9/11 at a concession stand near the Statue of Liberty. To make money, they become drug dealers and participate in insurance fraud. Derrick wants to go to college and has to support his two children. When army recruits arrive, Derrick decides to join the army because he has been told that he will receive money for his studies and will be able to live without paying rent. When he tells his mother of his decision, she says she is afraid he will have to go to war.
