Les Sept Péchés Capitaux plot

The film consists of 7 episodes and deals with the 7 sins plus an eighth sin. Gérard Philipe plays an ironic, enthusing customer lure for the fair and introduces each episode. He is also the narrator of the last episode: The Eighth Sin. The episode "Greed and Anger" is about a promising real estate agent and his dowdy wife, both of whom are extremely selfish about love and money. The episode "Lust" shows the devastating effects of careless adult behavior on an easily impressionable girl. The episode "Jealousy" takes a look at the life of an aging performer and his young wife whom he treats as his own property. His wife is jealous of his talent, his friends and even his cat, whom she tries to get rid of. The episode "Proud" is about a snooty aristocratic mother and daughter who try to keep up appearances while they are financially ruined. The episode "Laziness" shows that otherworldly forces feel that life on Earth is moving too fast and therefore send an emissary to Earth to slow things down. The episode "Gluttony" is about a stranded motorcyclist who is more interested in eating cheese than in seducing his host's wife.
