Very entertaining animation film that, despite its age, is still on the same level as Miyazaki's more recent films. Especially the music, with its funky tone, knows how to create the relaxed atmosphere of this colorful film. Visually, it also looks good for a cartoon from the seventies, but the version I've seen has been polished up pretty well in my opinion.

Like others, I immediately thought of a kind of funky and cartoony James Bond adaptation.

Completely different from the rest of what I know and have seen from Miyazaki. Less atmosphere and certainly not very special visually. It is all a lot less detailed, although the backgrounds are sometimes still beautiful. The action is also completely unbelievable with cars driving over mountain walls and people who can make giant jumps. But that also seems to be the intention, also meant purely for fun. And the film certainly does, because I thoroughly enjoyed myself throughout the entire playing time. Good pace, nice story, nice characters. Not a film that really leaves a deep impression, but very nice to have seen. 3.5*.

Very nice debut film by Miyazaki. A bit of a different style from his next prints, but very enjoyable and entertaining. The time flew. The movie reminded me of some James Bond movie where some sort of spy takes on an influential unscrupulous villain. And of course the beautiful girls should not be missing either.

Lupine is a sympathetic humorous character. The humor was successful and so was the action. More than decent plot that never stops. Colorful other characters too like those ninja guards, the guard and the Earl himself of course. Great opening scene also with the car chase or the better climbing and jumping on and around the castle. Nice!
