Les Feux de la Chandeleur plot
With his wife Marie-Louise and his two children Jean-Paul and Laura, Alexandre Boursault, a notary in the countryside, should normally be the happiest man. Unfortunately, his wife is quite open about her leftist views and takes part in all kinds of manifestations. In the long run this starts to weigh heavily on their marriage and at the beginning of February 1962, on the day of Candlemas, the couple split up. Alexandre Bousault decides to stay in the largest hotel in the city. His wife continues to raise her children and tries to stay true to her political opinion. But soon she had a very hard time and was increasingly left to her own devices: without a husband, without a profession and after a while also without children. Ten years later, her ex-husband, meanwhile remarried to Clothilde, contacts her again. She begins to believe that he still loves her and hopes for reconciliation.
