Le Fruit Défendu plot
Charles Pellegrin (Fernandel), a 40-year-old doctor, buys a practice in Arles, a provincial town near Marseille. In 5 years he builds up a large practice, and has a sweet (more efficient than passionate) wife. Then he meets the spectacular, sexy, sensual Martine, who seduces him. In this way he maintains the honorable old French custom of taking a maitraisse. In the beginning Martine brings romance, and later passion into his life, but then black jealousy and despair follow.
