L'Hiver plot
In Bruges, director Julien is shooting a documentary about the city with his sound engineer Michel. However, Julien dreams of making a film adaptation of Shakespeare or De Musset in this mysterious city. Soon his wife Sophie, a former actress, also arrives in Bruges, suffering from the distance between her and Julien. When Sophie meets a painter in town, he asks her to come and visit Florence. While she vents her heart to Michel, Julien accepts his producer's offer to film a script in Bruges.
