strong! Die Ozon is building up a nice oeuvre like this. L'amant double is the seventh title I see of him and it belongs to the three best. It is also quite a bit more expressive than often with the Frenchman. That applies to the cinematography, which this time is quite exuberant with beautiful trick shots, although the tight camerawork and cold colors remain characteristic. In addition, the mise-en-scene and the music are also more eye-catching; the score, for example, is so prominent on two occasions that it almost becomes physically uncomfortable. But not only the design is expressive, that also applies to the story. A number of developments at the end wouldn't have looked out of place with Von Trier (I'm mainly referring to the little hand from the belly, which reminded me of a scene from Riget, but the dildo scene can put you there). That in the end it all was not real, so you suspect is admittedly a downer afterwards, but on the other hand, it does not detract much from the film experience. Good film, one to take to the cinema for those who have the chance.

Better than "Fifty Shades Of Grey", but that doesn't mean much. Ozone opens the film with a shot of a vagina that transitions into the shot of lead actress Marine Vacth's eye. An unforgettable shot, because it is really horribly bad and considerably more laughable than shocking. The story of a woman who goes off with her psychiatrist as soon as he says something to her is already dubious, but it gets even more idiotic when she does the same with her psychiatrist's twin brother. Or not...or is it?

Ozon tries to spice up a soft-sex 'Red Shoes Diaries' story with garish visuals, including the talk sessions that have been edited in split-screen for nonsensical reasons. Countless shots of specular reflections reinforce the sense that this is really a case of a film frantically trying to make up for its lack of substance with something that passes for 'style'. Since François Ozon is one of the favorites of the Arthouse scene, this film will undoubtedly have its supporters. But only Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp has good reasons for that!
