The description of the film did not raise high expectations for me, but because I really liked the previous film of the director duo, I watched the film anyway and I was not disappointed: this film is also very good. The film is especially very beautiful: the images are always very beautiful (each scene looks like a painting by Vermeer), the love that blossoms between the lonely, old woman and lonely, old man is very beautiful and the shocking ending is very beautiful. At the same time, the film is a biting critique and indictment of the oppressive Iranian regime (it is surprising that the duo has not (yet) been punished more severely than a mere travel ban) because the film is above all a tragedy because the illegally won love comes too late and the woman has to bury her newly found lover in her garden just like in Iran they bury the equally illegal wine in the garden: it shows that simply enjoying life, and not least freely celebrating life in the form of love, is not possible in Iran while life is so beautiful that you can say that Iran is literally guilty of a crime against humanity. In the face of that inhuman crime of the regime, the film warms your heart with pure humanity.

Sympathetic film with here and there venomous criticism of the Iranian dictatorship (and modern digital life). Beautifully shot images that leave nothing to the imagination, which also applies to the story: everything is told straight-forward, sometimes in a somewhat simple way.

It seems to me that two 70-year-olds would have something more to say to each other in the privacy of a house one evening than the superficial platitudes we hear now. But... the dictatorship will undoubtedly have played a role here.

Anyone who appreciates a gentle fairy tale in harsh times until the end of the film will certainly enjoy it, especially if the filmmakers had cut out that one unnecessary shot of those pills.

70-year-old Mahin [Lili Farhadpour] has been a widow for 30 years and is woken up every morning by a phone call from Puran [Mansoore Ilkhani] who complains about her physical disabilities. After a pleasant dinner with friends, Mahin decides to take the plunge. She visits a number of places where she can meet men. In a restaurant for pensioners, she overhears a conversation between old men and decides to ask one of them, taxi driver Faramarz [Esmaeel Mehrabi], if he can give her a lift home. The dinner with friends is written so naturally and played so relaxed that it immediately reminds one of a (highly entertaining) documentary. From the moment Farhadpour and Mehrabi meet, Moghadam and Sanaeeha only have to give these excellent actors the space to spread their magic over us. A wonderful, heart-warming romantic story ... until the totally unexpected denouement, the meaning and/or added value of which are completely unclear. Tenderness turns into indignation and that is truly a shame.
