After his sister's suicide, Jan Altenberg goes in search of his father's murderer. During the war he was executed on the orders of a certain lieutenant Voigtländer for insubordination. He follows a trail to England, where he meets the handsome Hlen Dubbs. She tells him that her deceased mother knew the prisoner of war Voigtländer.
