After Bea Pullman's husband passed away, Bea and her daughter Jessie struggle financially. Then Delilah Johnson knocks on their door, who offers to work as a housekeeper in exchange for a living space for her and her daughter. Delilah turns out to be able to make fantastic pancakes and with her recipe Delilah and Bea become rich. However, they become increasingly estranged from their daughters, who also have their own problems.
