"They’re not really criminals, but everyone’s got to have a dream."

Picture this: You are discharged from the hospital where you were treated for exhaustion. To please your friend, ask permission to leave the hospital through a sheet hung from the window instead of just going through the front door. That same friend wants to go on a criminal tour and like a real friend you go along and you plan an armed robbery.

Reasonable film about three friends who figure out how to commit a robbery. Like the rest of his films, this debut by Wes Anderson is also a bit quirky. On the one hand fresh, but on the other also a bit messy story. The whole finale is definitely the most fun and the dialogues are dryly comical. A narrow 3.0 stars.

“You've never worked a day in your life. How can you be exhausted?”

Fair first film by Wes Anderson. It is great that Anderson already radiates so much self-confidence with his first film and that he has really found his own style and identity. Bottle Rocket also has all the usual Anderson elements. The Wilson brothers, colorful and strange characters, sharp dialogues, humor, melancholy and a brisk pace. Due to the small budget, the film doesn't look as nice as his later films, but that's the only thing you really miss.

See a lot of high ratings of 4* and 4.5* here that made me decide to put it up. Unfortunately, because it was a big waste of time. Nowhere funny, a superfluous romantic scene to fill the time with nothing to do towards the end. Chaotic story. Sorry again.
