Help plot

"No one's coming."

Sarah works in a care home in Liverpool where she is slowly starting to believe in herself again. With her capacity for empathy, she gets on well with the residents, especially Tony, in his forties, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. March 2020 marks a turning point for staff who are not as resistant to COVID-19. However, Sarah is determined to do everything she can to protect those in her care.

It must be one of my first films where I see the Covid pandemic and the associated mouth mask duty appear so prominently in a film. Despite the fact that we had to deal with it ourselves for two years, it felt surreal. Strange actually. Wonder how you'll look at it in 10-20 years.

But the general trend is well reflected. The shortage of staff, the infernal working hours, the fear of the residents, the precautionary measures, etc... The pressure on the staff is enormous and directly proportional to the responsibilities that come with it. And that for a low wage...

The development with the character Tony is a subplot that I found a bit surprising. At least how it ended up. Not always obvious to keep work and private life separate or not to let the emotionality weigh too much. Great role by Jodie Corner!

Film primarily talks about the deployment of a care provider in the healthcare sector at a time when Covid-19 is ravaging the world and many uncertainties regarding appropriate measures are surfacing everywhere and the tasks are going to become very heavy. In this context, it is especially that long scene during the night where an admirable performance by Sarah impresses.

It is remarkable that in addition to the main plot, much attention is paid to the emotional bond between a nurse and one sick person. It is perhaps the most pertinent part of the film, because here the heart speaks, unlike all well-intentioned measures.

Jodie Comer impresses, but Stephen Graham is also excellent in his role.

Jodie Comer is amazing as a nurse in this TV movie about a British care home for the demented people affected by COVID-19. Because of her personal involvement, she gets the lid on the nose, because "rules are rules". That reminds me strongly of the bureaucratic Netherlands that wants to arrange everything down to three decimal places in order to nip personal initiative in the bud.
From the opening scenes I knew this movie would be right up my alley. I don't think the last part (in the camper) is strong, but that does not detract from the impact of the film. Because, as said, Jodie Comer plays the stars of heaven. She and her co-star Stephen Graham ensure that this film reverberates for a while.
