Heartsease plot

When the impoverished composer Eric Temple and his sister Alice visit her fiancé's aunt in Ireland, he falls in love with Margaret Neville, who lives with her father and young stepmother on a neighboring estate. Lord Neville wants Margaret to marry Sir Geoffrey Pomfret, a wealthy amateur musician, but she prefers Eric, who has dedicated the song "Heartsease" from his new opera to her. After Lady Neville, who loves Eric, secretly pays some of his deceased father's debts and promises to submit his score to a producer, Pomfret receives the score and reveals Lord Neville's payments to him.
