Guy de Maupassant plot
In August 1891 the writer Guy van Maupassant turns 41. In Paris, he is the center of literary and fashionable life and throws very daring parties, where his dinner companions humble the morals of the era: famous women such as Gravine Potocka or the Princess de Polignac take part in the feast without shame, while Gisèle de Estoc , Maupassant's best friend, does not hide her lesbian tendencies. The writer, who has always loved many women, enjoys this libertine atmosphere. But in reality he hides his deep despair, for he is incapable of loving one person intensely and that gnaws at his conscience.
