Gallant Bess plot

"See Bess do stunts you never saw a horse do before."

A young orphan who takes care of horses dreams of building a ranch for his horse Bess himself. But it is the period of the Second World War and he has to join the army (in the navy) so that he has no choice but to leave Bess behind. The horse becomes seriously ill and dies. During a trip to a remote island that is being bombed by the Japanese, he finds a wounded horse that he takes care of with much love. The horse heals and becomes more and more attached to its master.
