“Frankie's not here. She's awake and frightened. I'm getting tired of having to step in for her...”

Mixed feelings. Halle Berry and Stellan Skarsgård are truly unparalleled in difficult roles, and Berry in particular knows how to handle the different personalities she has to play. Not an easy task, but Berry is very strong. Frankie & Alice's problem is the script, because nowhere does it want to get even the slightest bit exciting or interesting. Very unfortunate, because Skarsgård and Berry deserve better.

Despite the good interpretation of Berry as a striptease dancer who suffers from a personality disorder and the solid interpretation of Stellan Skarsgård, the story never really gets going. The reason is simply that the script offers too little and that the therapy moments contribute little to a fascinating whole. Lots of flashbacks that show little or no emotional moments. Weak drama based on true events. 4/10

Exotic dancer Frankie [Halle Berry] loses her job in 1973 because of her erratic behavior. She seeks professional help, but only gets it when psychologist Oz [Stellan Skarsgård] steps in for her. He discovers that Frankie has different personalities and tries to find a way to get to the root of this and get Frankie the help she needs. The prologue makes it clear Frankie as a teenager [Vanessa Morgan] was involved in a tragic event. The outcome of that research is just as simplistic as the way Berry shapes her different personalities. This may be based on a true story, but that clearly does not guarantee a fascinating film.
