One morning in Oklahoma, Cufe Smallhill finds his father dead. At the request of his deceased father, he sinks the body in a pond. After the funeral, Cufe goes to Tulsa to spend some time with his sister Miri. He meets Miri's neighbor, Francie. They talk and listen and things seem to be going well for Cufe. However, Miri also has her problems.
