El Romance del Aniceto y la Francisca plot
Aniceto tries in vain to make money from cockfights. He meets Francisca, a young servant. They marry without money and without family. Aniceto is unreliable and loses his money gambling, while Francisca gets up early every day trying to support them. During protests, Aniceto is stabbed and imprisoned. Francisca waits patiently for him. Then Aniceto meets the seductive Lucía, which puts his marriage on the line.
