El Bumbún plot

Argentina in the 1960s. The last child of woodcutter Antonio is born in a desolate and poor area in the province of La Rioja. Antonio is a taciturn and authoritarian man: his will is law. Since his previous children were daughters, he had them adopted by wealthy families. If his wife still gives birth to a girl, she must be raised as a boy. She is given the name José, with the nickname Bumbún. She dresses like a boy, but her feelings are those of a girl.
