Eiga Joyû plot
Dramatized biography of Kinuyo Tanaka (1910-1977), one of the great actresses of Japanese cinema who started her career in the 1920s and changed abruptly in the 1950s. At the beginning of her career, she is still a naive girl with ponytails, but it's clear that the studio bosses, sugar daddy, and later industrialization in World War II left a mark not only on the film industry, but also on Tanaka's life. Although she works with great directors such as Ozu and Naruse, she mainly had a long collaboration with Mizoguchi, although their styles often clash. When Mizoguchi ignores her being recommended as the first female director, she breaks off their partnership and focuses on directing, being one of the first women at the time.
