Een Echte Vermeer plot
Early twentieth century. Like his idols Rembrandt and Johannes Vermeer, the talented Han van Meegeren paints with almost photographic precision. When the married Han starts an affair with the wife of the widely respected art critic Abraham Bredius, he has to pay for it. Han's major solo exhibition is completely burned down and he is portrayed by Bredius as a bungler, quick draftsman and copyist. The narcissistic Han decides to take revenge on the art world.
