1973, Harald Edelstam is the Swedish ambassador to Chile when Pinochet commits his bloody coup d'état. Edelstam, who rescued Norwegian resistance fighters in World War II, immediately springs into action. While soldiers are ubiquitous and bitter street battles are being waged, he manages to smuggle hundreds of people safely into the embassy. But then an even greater challenge presents itself. To keep the love of his life, he must defeat the demons within himself and battle Pinochet's army.
