Due Soldi di Speranza plot
With his military service exemption documents in his pocket, Antonio returns to his village. He is immediately confronted with a serious problem. He has to support his mother, brothers and sisters in a city where there is no work. For a short time he manages to live from day to day, but then a girl from the city falls in love with him. In vain Antonio tries to convince her that he is tied to his family and that he cannot take the responsibility that marriage would entail. The girl, Carmela, respects his opinion but cannot separate herself from him. Despite her father's opposition and the problems she foresees, she eventually moves in with Antonio's family...
