Diva Futura plot
In the 80s, the film studio Diva Futura was founded by Riccardo Schicchi, who focused on the porn world. Under his guidance, women such as Ilona Staller, Moana Pozzi and Eva Henger became world stars. Due to the great media attention, Staller and Pozzi even made it to politicians. However, not everything is sham for the members behind Diva Futura, as they are confronted with many trials, jealousy and contradictions that leave the porn industry in ruins.

In Italy in the 1980s and 1990s, Riccardo Schicchi caused a revolution by producing porn films with his production company, Diva Futura. Under his direction, ordinary girls like Ilona Staller, Moana Pozzi, and Eva Henger found their way into Italian living rooms—and later foreign living rooms—thanks to the rise of subscription TV and the video recorder. I remember that time and a few of those films, and that is precisely why Diva Futura seemed like an interesting biopic to me.
Diva Futura, however, is an uninteresting film. The film is not a singular biopic but a jumble of no fewer than five biographical stories that are haphazardly interwoven. All of them are particularly superficial and particularly boring. The film, directed by Giulia Louise Steigerwalt, who also wrote the screenplay, tells a story that barely distinguishes love, sex, and abuse from one another. The impression is created that Diva Futura is a warm family within the cold and hateful land of pornography. I got the impression that the script romanticized history considerably.
And what an uninteresting script. Not a single biographical storyline displays any profundity. Not a single character exhibits more than one-dimensional depth. The dialogue is of a level that can be called substandard. The set design is dull. The film creates an atmosphere that is so meaningless that all kinds of drama and tragedy befalling the characters fail to move you at all. Furthermore, it is strange that Diva Futura, as a film set in the world of sex, itself features no sex or nudity. The few very fleeting seconds where there is a bit of nudity out of the corner of the eye essentially don't count. The film miraculously succeeds in ignoring everything that could possibly be even remotely engaging.
Diva Futura is a bad film. A bad film with a nice jazzy soundtrack. That much is true. The music was the only aspect of the film that appealed to me.
