Die Weber plot
The poor weavers stand in the dark sales area of the manufacturer Dreissiger, trading their 'woven goods'. It's always the same ritual: the scales, testing and paying the poor wages. Pfeiffer, Dreissiger's right-hand man, decides about their existence. When it's the turn of the red-haired Bäcker, he confronts him and Pfeiffer calls on Dreissiger to help. Bäcker gets his money, but is fired. And the rest of the weavers can continue to work with half the salary. That means even less money and even more hunger. Then the former soldier Jäger comes back from the city, calls the workers to protest and together they go all over the village with the 'weaver song' on their lips. The group makes their way to Dreissiger's house, where the family tries unsuccessfully to escape through the back door. After the weavers have destroyed the entire house, they move on to the next village, where the mechanical weaving mill is located.
