Die Reuk van Appels plot

In 1974, in an isolated and sunny white South Africa during the time of apartheid, 11-year-old Marnus leads a wonderful life. His father plays with him often, his beautiful mother is a devoted wife, his friend Frikkie is almost a brother, and his nanny Doreen discreetly looks after everyone. But when Mr. Smith, a mysterious Chilean colleague of his father, shows up at their home, the peaceful harmony of Marnus's idyllic life is suddenly disrupted. In just five days, his beautiful world begins to crumble.
