Das Herz der Königin plot
After several years at the French court, the Catholic Queen Mary returns to Scotland in 1561 to claim the throne. The Protestant nobles try to prevent her coronation, because they want to avoid difficulties in connection with their religion. From northern Scotland, Mary tries to get a grip on the entire British Empire, but her main competitor, Elizabeth I, rules firmly from London, giving her little chance.
