Coming through the Rye plot
16-year-old Jamie Schwartz desperately wants to be a worldly adolescent. He is unhappy because he is in a boarding school with only boys. His only salvation is the belief that one day he will play Holden Caulfield - the complex and estranged protagonist of the iconic novel "The Catcher in the Rye" - on Broadway and in the movies. He adapts the novel as a play and runs away to the New Hampshire mountains to search for the book's reclusive author, JD Salinger. He is picked up along the way by a local girl, DeeDee Gorlin. Their odyssey and the events that follow are a journey into the meaning of friendship, sex, love and loss.
