Samay is a nine-year-old boy who lives in Chalala, a village in Saurashtra, India. He spends an entire summer watching movies, from the projection booth of a dilapidated movie house, bribing the projectionist - Fazal. He is so mesmerized by movies and filmmaking that he decides to become a filmmaker, unaware of the heartbreaking times ahead.
