Neil Hendry is the new high school teacher in town, but he hasn't dealt with the ghosts of his past yet. Still, his friendly, casual style helps him settle in quickly. He soon wins the hearts of some troubled students, but he is also on friendly terms with the director's secretary. He succeeds in assisting them both privately and at school, but at the same time the same characteristics also ensure that he ends up on a bad page with the director. He cannot appreciate the fact that students and teachers maintain such good friendships.
