AWOL plot

Young Joey sees only one way out of her bleak Pennsylvania town and that is to join the military. Then she meets the older Rayna, who likes to party. And leads a very different life: she has two small children in her trailer home, and a man who is always away as a driver. That doesn't stop Joey from making plans for the future; she even wants to join the army to take care of Rayna. But along the way, she loses her view of what's good for herself.
