Atarashiki Tami plot

Okayama in 1726. Jihei, who lives a quiet farm life with his wife and awaits the birth of his first child, joins a group of villagers in an effort to resist the local landowners. However, the situation soon spirals out of control and Jihei is forced to leave his village and family behind. Years later, thanks to a fateful encounter, his lonely life takes a drastic turn.
