Among the Cinders plot
"A man is inside, a boy must look..."
Nick has a bad relationship with his parents and brother because they don't take very good care of him. When Nick finds a friend in an Aboriginal boy, Sam, he doubts whether Sam is really his friend, or whether he feels called to treat Nick like a friend because he saved Sam's life. When Sam dies, Nick's grandfather decides to take him on a spiritual journey. This makes Nick a different person, especially when he gets to know love.
