American Dreamz plot

"Imagine a country where more people vote for a pop idol than they do for their next President."

Martin Tweed (Hugh Grant) hosts the immensely popular American Idol-esque TV show American Dreamz. The Tweed, filled with self-love and self-loathing, is always looking for new idols. He does everything he can to keep the viewers committed. His tenacity is about to surpass all. For this season, Tweed has a delightful group of candidates including Sally, a scheming, charming bitch with a loyal, drowsy older friend, and Omer, a clumsy terrorist-to-be with a penchant for show tunes. When Tweed lands the president of the United States (Dennis Quaid), whose popularity could use a boost, as a juror, everything is set for a program the nation will never forget.

I had only seen the end of this movie at first, and thought it was funny.

Then I decided to watch it again in its entirety, but actually the ending was about the only really funny thing in the film, the rest was a bit disappointing.

They could have gotten so much more out of this concept, but they didn't... Too bad.

The film images that give the impression of a reality show should be original, but do not really give a striking effect.

I didn't really like the characters (/actors) too much now, except that I like to see Hugh Grant play and I also thought Omer and especially his cousins came across as funny.

Not a film I will see again, and only recommended if you don't know anything better and don't feel like going into depth.

I actually had no expectations at all with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The film takes the program Idol on the grain and it was successful. The movie made me laugh every now and then (especially with that gay guy ).

The cast consisted of a number of well-known names, who I didn't really expect in the genre. Willem Dafoe had the greatest metamorphosis with his bald marble. They all did well.

The story isn't that surprising, although I thought the ending was very good and surprising .

The film was easy to watch and actually captivated me for the entire viewing time.

I didn't think it was wrong and glad I saw it.

windfall.

American Dreamz is still too moderate and average to really captivate, but some characters are successful caricatures and the ending ensures that this is not lost in all the other choirs.

The at first sight boring cast also does better than expected. Especially names like Chris Klein, Hugh Grant and Mandy Moore - in my opinion absolutely no attractions - transcend themselves in their caricature. I think such a role by Willem Dafoe is a bland addition.

Furthermore, the film drags on a little too long, but it ends with a bang, so that is also made up for.

2.5
