Willie Stark, an energetic country lawyer, fights his way to the top. Assisted by his staunch secretary Sadie Burke and the journalist Jack Burden, he attains the position of governor. Once elected, Willie shamelessly abuses his charm to become a savage dictator, but his unstoppable hunger for power threatens to destroy the king and his kingship.

Goodness what a bad movie. I had a lot of trouble keeping my mind on it. Not only does it seem endlessly complicated and difficult to follow; the star cast acts as tight as a board with the exception of Penn, exactly a parrot demonstrating rehearsed traits; the film goes on and on with that gaudy constantly recurring music. It was a great relief when it was finally over.
The cast may be impressive, but the talentless Zaillian literally drowns in literary quotes and his megalomaniac efforts to portray corrupting power with tragedy and grandeur. Painful to watch the film fail by the minute; leaves a very unbalanced impression at the end.

There I am again dear viewers, 
This movie is based on a true story and I really enjoyed it. Sean Penn was great again. It was also delightful to see my favorites James Gandolfini and Anthony Hopkins. A good set that together managed to make quite an impression on me.
For the whole I want to give a 4.5 despite the fact that others think this is mediocre. But hey, people make mistakes!!

Phew, it wasn't quite what I expected. Despite the fact that it looked attractive and a top cast participated, the film could not interest me very much. There was too little "action" in the story, the film rippled right on, without real highlights, so that the film came across as boring and long-winded.
I've watched the movie but don't have to watch it again.
