Not bad, for a Western.
It's definitely not my genre, but this one seemed a bit more atmospheric than the average Western. That proved to be the case, which, despite the lengthy playing time, kept it fascinating until the end. It will never be my favorite genre, but this was a positive discovery.
A look at fine actors helps, of course. Pitt, but especially Affleck, are doing very well. If you still have people like Rockwell in backup, then you just have a skilled cast. But it is mainly the visual, in combination with a nice soundtrack, that gives this film something extra.
Yet the setting and the characters never really appeal to me, so it never really sticks. Visually, it is not at that level that it immediately makes the film a masterpiece. Far above average, certainly for a Western, but that's about it.
