"You can't choose your family."
15-year-old Scout (India Ennenga) lives with her younger sister Lulu (Onata Aprile) and their grandmother in a small house. When Scout and Lulu's father and stepmother come by, they take Lulu with them. Scout befriends the suicidal Sam (James Frecheville) and sets out to find her sister. All this while trying to evade Child Protective Services and the cop looking for Sam for escaping a clinic.
